Junior High
Students are tested prior to the time of interview to determine
competence in the areas of English, reading, writing and math
computation. The testing (for grades 6,7,and 8) includes the following:
1. A reading test to determine vocabulary
recognition and comprehension.
2. A math test to determine computation
and problem solving skill.
3. A test to determine Bible knowledge.
4. A written autobiography submitted
as part of the application to assess writing fluency.
A recent report card and standardized
test results are required to confirm grade level achievement and
performance in a school situation. Without these documents, a
final decision on acceptance may delay or preclude admission.
Valley Christian Schools admission policy
states the following:
Generally, students must be able to
demonstrate that their academic achievement is at least as high
as the grade level to which they are seeking admission, as determined
by report card grades in high school, in addition to nationally
normed achievement tests, or an admission test in grades K-8.
It should be noted that the average grade level achievement nationally
is lower than the average achievement level of students enrolled
at Valley Christian Schools. The students attitude and behavior
must be acceptable in order to be admitted to the school.
Students who are unable to demonstrate
grade level performance abilities may apply to a lower grade level
or be recommended by the Principal, teacher or parent to the Discovery
Center for an assessment o determine if the student qualifies
for a special education program.
