Terry McElhatton, our beloved high school television and video teacher was taken home to be with the Lord Saturday evening after a massive heart attack. He had been wind surfing with his son Chris during the day and peacefully passed away on the ride home with his son. Paramedics and doctors tried for hours to revive him. Terry was only 52 years old and had no history of heart problems. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 13 at 3:00 pm at Calvary Church. The church is located at 16330 Los Gatos Blvd, Los Gatos. Please pray for Robin, their son Chris and daughter Lauren at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to a memorial fund to help pay for their son Chris's college education. Click here to donate on line or checks may be written to Valley Christian Schools, with the words "Terry McElhatton Memorial" on the memo line.

A message from Dr. Daugherty:

Terry McElhatton often shared how his entire family came to faith in Jesus Christ after Lauren began attending Valley Christian High School during the 1998-99 school year while VCS shared the Branham campus with the newly opened Branham High School. Two years later Terry brought his career of television news casting experience to build the Valley Christian High School Television and Communications Department. The department was almost nonexistent when he began his work. Terry had a heart for training young people with the strongest Christian character to become the world's most effective communicators. His purpose at VCHS was to restore Christian values to the media through the influence of his students. There is no doubt that many of his students will thrill Terry's heart as they achieve that goal while he watches from heaven.

Terry's daughter Lauren just accepted a teaching contract at Valley Christian High School to follow in her father's amazing tradition of multimedia instruction and the Quest for Excellence. Although Terry had just accepted an appointment at San Jose State University as an assistant professor in the communications department, he was committed to maintaining his involvement and ministry at Valley Christian High School. Just recently Terry said, "I will continue to serve at Valley Christian High School in any way I can because I want to always be part of helping to shape the lives of Valley students."
