The Junior High School provides sixth, seventh and eighth grade students with a nurturing environment as they explore a departmentalized approach for all subjects. With a variety of academic options, students will be able to pursue knowledge at a level that meets their specific needs. Students will also be able to explore unique opportunities through the diverse selection of electives that accompany the core academic courses.
On September 24, 2013, US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recognized Valley Christian Junior High School as an Exemplary High Performing Blue Ribbon School. Founded in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' academic achievement. A National Blue Ribbon Schools flag overhead has become a mark of excellence in education recognized by everyone from parents to policy-makers in thousands of communities. 22 junior high schools were recognized nationally and only three of those were private schools, VCJH was the only one in California.
Schools recognized for this award have demonstrated excellence in math and science education and their ability to promote students problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration skills, areas called 21st century skills by educators. Find out more about this award, click here.
