Your Day Begins Here

Hip Hop II
This morning, I arrived at school in my dance clothes in preparation for my Hip Hop II class. We stretched and warmed up, then got into small groups to practice the choreography our teacher taught us last week. Each small group performed in front of the class while the rest of us watched. I love the Hip Hop II class because my classmates haven’t just become my friends but my family.

Christmas Spirit Week
This week is Christmas Spirit Week, and today, I dressed up as a snowman! On the last day of Christmas Spirit Week, each grade dresses up as a different Christmas character. This year, sophomores are snowmen. Christmas on the Hill has always been my favorite time of year. The quad and hallways are always decked out in holiday decorations, and the ASB students have fun Christmas-themed activities for us. My favorite activity planned for the student body was the real-life reindeer! The ASB students brought a real-life reindeer to campus, and we were allowed to pet and take pictures with it.

Applied Filmmaking
My next class is Applied Filmmaking. Today, my teacher lectured on how to begin preparing for our student-produced films. I am in charge of art direction, and over the weekend, I made a list of local places where we will be able to film. We are beginning to film our movies after Christmas break. I’m really excited to get started and see how the whole film will come together.
11:45 AM
Chapel
After break, we all head to the gym for Chapel. At today’s Chapel, we sang Christmas hymns; then we heard the best message. The speaker is from New York and comes every year. I look forward to hearing his messages. He tells Bible stories in the most vivid way. Today, he re-told the beginning of the Christmas story, and he made me think about Mary in a new way. She was so young but so brave and faithful. I can’t imagine what she must have been going through. After he was done telling the story, he challenged us to be faithful like Mary and not let fear or insecurity stop us from becoming who God made us to be. Then, we prayed for our school and our community before heading to lunch.

AP Music Theory
After lunch with my friends, I have AP Music Theory. Today, we talked about how music can affect our emotions. My teacher asked us to bring in samples of music that reflect a strong emotion. I already have an idea of what song I am going to share. I am eager to see what songs my fellow classmates bring in and how and why those songs have impacted them.
