January 14, 2022
Dear Skyway Families,
We are pleased to announce that our junior high and high school students will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 18. We pivoted to distance learning this week due to the high infection rate of our faculty and staff, making it unmanageable to properly staff classrooms. Thankfully all the cases were mild, and those employees will safely return on Tuesday with a negative antigen test result. In addition, all other Skyway employees tested on Thursday with a zero percent positivity rate.
Our faculty and staff are excited to return to campus to teach your children next week. Valley Christian Schools continues to be committed to in-person learning so long as we have adequate adult supervision in the classrooms. We are greatly encouraged by our community's effort to stay healthy this week; however, we must remain vigilant in protecting one another. Many activities are held indoors during these colder months, which increases risk factors for community spread.
Here are some practical steps you can take to ensure in-person learning continues this semester:
All students must continue to complete Darcy before coming to campus. Please stay home if you are experiencing symptoms.
Continue to practice "safe" living in the coming weeks to continue healthy conditions for in-person learning. "Safe" living means social distancing when possible, wearing masks, and seeking the advice of your family's practitioners on vaccines and boosters.
Please take advantage of our free, on-campus PCR testing with National Labs for our students and staff, Monday-Thursday from 9 am-4:30 pm on the Skyway Campus. Please note that the on-campus testing facility will be closed this Monday, January 17, due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Review the county's updated Decision Tree to Determine Isolation or Quarantine and their face mask recommendations. Please note that the county no longer recommends single cloth masks. As a courtesy, we will have surgical masks available while supplies last in classrooms should your child need one. Please visit www.vcs.net/covid for further information or to submit any questions.
If your child's vaccination status has changed or received their booster shot, please upload updated vaccination status.
We want to express our deep gratitude to our Warrior Community for working together to keep our students in the classroom. We hope in the encouragement from Isaiah 40:31, "But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength...they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." We wish you a wonderful and restful - long weekend with your families.
