COVID POSITIVE PROCESS

What are my next steps if my student is quarantined?

If your child tests positive, upload the results to vcs.net/covid

The Public Health Department directs that your child isolate at home immediately, even if they do not have COVID-like symptoms:

  • If symptomatic, regardless of vaccination status, your child must stay isolated for at least 5 days since symptoms began AND at least 24 hours after your child’s fever resolves and their other symptoms improve.
  • If your child has no symptoms, your child should isolate for at least 5 days from the date of test collection.
  • Isolation may be shorted to 5+ days if the above has been met and your child tests negative with a rapid antigen test on or after day 5. Any rapid antigen testing done at home must be uploaded to vcs.net/covid prior to arrival on campus.

Elementary Steps

  1. If any student needs to miss school due to a county-mandated absence, please email Christine Nauck, cnauck@vcs.net, and your student's teacher.
  2. Reach out directly to your student's teacher via email to coordinate a time to pick up school work.
  3. Once the student is released to return to on-campus learning, please email Christine Nauck, cnauck@vcs.net, and your student's teacher.

Junior High Steps

  1. If any student needs to miss school due to a county-mandated absence, please contact Brian Clemons, bclemons@vcs.net. VCJH will notify the quarantined student's teachers to turn on their Zoom room and open the link on the Welcome Page of their teacher website on learn.vcs.net.
  2. Students can participate at home using an "At Home Listener" format by turning into the classroom via Zoom to watch what was occurring in class. The student may not be able to see and track all classroom learning or ask the teachers questions, but they can watch via the DTEN boards in the classroom allowing the student to hear the lesson and assignments to prevent them from falling far behind. Some classes will not have DTEN boards, such as dance and P.E. classes.
  3. Once the student is released to return to on-campus learning, please inform Brian Clemons, bclemons@vcs.net, and he will notify the teachers to discontinue Zoom.
