Junior High’s Launch-A-Business: Sticker Project

Junior High’s Launch-A-Business: Sticker Project

In this inaugural semester, junior high’s Launch-A-Business (LAB) class has successfully ventured into the world of sticker production! This Business, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation (BEI) course equips students with a complete set of tools to be hands-on as they transform their creative ideas into tangible products. Over the course of the term, students have refined the entire sticker production process within their own classroom, starting with conceptualizing designs and concluding with packaging the final sticker products.

After some time of trial and error, the class mastered techniques to minimize waste in the production of their stickers. Once these methods were perfected, the next step was to broadcast their entrepreneurial prowess. Under the guidance of Mrs. Fiore, students sent emails to various programs and clubs across the campus, polling students and staff about their interest in custom-designed stickers.

As the initial orders began streaming in, the LAB class immediately got down to business. An exciting collaboration unfolded with the high school Social Innovation Class (SIC), wherein LAB students crafted unique stickers for the SIC’s upcoming visit to the San Jose Police Department. Design concepts were generated by LAB students, got a thorough review by the high school class, and went through a fine-tuning process based on feedback before proceeding to the printing phase.

Another noteworthy partnership nearing completion is with the Junior High Houses program. The LAB class turned the house emblems into stickers to distribute among their peers. While one group of the class completed the printing of emblems and the application of a protective coat on each page of stickers, another group focused on packaging them for delivery. To add a personal touch to each order, the students hand-decorated the delivery envelopes. In this class, attention to detail is paramount!

In an effort to provide students with a holistic understanding of the business world, the LAB class has welcomed guest speakers from Valley Christian Schools' marketing team and finance department. These professionals shared invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities within their respective fields, offering students a glimpse into how they can apply their newfound knowledge to the ongoing sticker business project.

The sticker project has proven to be an exciting journey, teaching lessons to junior high students on the intricacies of running a business from inception to launch and beyond. It also highlights the unique contributions of each classmate in the process. Together, they are poised to elevate their sticker business to new heights – reaching for the moon!
