Performance Attire

Kindergarten – 3^rd Grade

For our K-3 concert on Monday night, as we celebrate the many cultures that shape our Valley Christian community, we ask that students wear traditional clothing that celebrates their heritage.

If you do not have traditional clothing available,
Girls are allowed to wear:

• Dresses in white or bright colors
• Skirts
• Black pants (leggings only allowed to be worn if underneath a dress or skirt)

Boys are allowed to wear:

• Solid color collared shirt in white or the colors of the Olympic rings (blue, yellow, black, green, and red)
• Black Pants

OFF LIMITS

• Jeans
• Shorts
• Sweats
• Tennis Shoes
• Graphics or wording on clothing

*All must be within VC Dress Code

4^th – 5^th Grade

Nice white shirt or blouse on top, dressy black pants or skirt on the bottom, (not jeans or yoga pants), black shoes (not athletic type) and black socks, all in VC dress code.

Drop-off Information

In addition to the information in the FAQ, parents please be sure to remove your child’s coat, and other outerwear when you drop them off at the Stage Door entrance. Take those items with you into the Theatre. It is always very warm in the building. Your child will not need them until the end of the concert.
We will have VC Security outside the Stage Door to help with crowd control and safety concerns on the Elementary concert nights.

Pick-up Information

Dr. Guven will give directions at the end of the concerts as to where to locate your child. Please, only one parent per child into the pick-up zone!

Young Men
Black-collared dress shirt - clean and pressed!
Black socks and black dress shoes (No sneakers!)
Suspenders are permitted but must be black

Young Ladies
Plain, black, floor-length dress, skirt, or dressy black slacks (no jeans or yoga pants)
Dressy black top
Black or neutral hosiery and black dress shoes
Modest attire, within VC dress code

STRINGS

Young Men
White dress shirt
Black bow tie
Black dress pants (not jeans)
Black socks and black dress shoes (no sneakers)

Young Ladies
Plain, black floor length dress or floor-length skirt or pants (no jeans or yoga pants), with dressy black top
Dressy black shoes with neutral or black hosiery
Modest attire, within VC dress code

CHOIR

Required performance outfit purchased for 2023-24 school year. Students please verify with your director about your performance attire.

Check-in Procedure

Students are required to sign in when they arrive in the California Theatre. Lists of performers will be posted on the bulletin boards in the hallway after the students come through the Stage Door entrance, with a line for signatures next to their name.

Check-out Procedure

All students are expected to stay until the conclusion of the concert. After the concert, students will be dismissed to the lobby for parent/guardian pickup. No student pickup at the Stage Door entrance.

Performance Attire

The Valley Christian Conservatory of the Arts conforms to the traditional standard of wearing formal concert attire. We hope that all students will feel comfortable performing in attire that is in accordance with the "VCHS Dress Code" and "General Attire Standards" (pgs. 44-45 of the Student Handbook). 
Students enrolled in a 2023 VCHS performance ensemble will wear the performance attire of their respective ensembles.

JAZZ & WIND ENSEMBLES, CONCERT & SYMPHONIC BANDS, AND PERCUSSION

Men's Concert Attire
Black suit or tuxedo
Black-collared dress shirt - clean and pressed!
Black socks and black dress shoes (no sneakers)
Suspenders are permitted but must be black

Ladies Concert Attire
Plain, black, floor-length dress, skirt, or dressy black slacks (no jeans or yoga pants)
Dressy black top
Black or neutral hosiery and black dress shoes
No plunging necklines, rising slits, low-cut backs, or displays of midriff

CONSERVATORY CHORUS & ADVANCED VOCAL ENSEMBLE

Required performance outfit purchased for 2023-24 school year.

SYMPHONIC CHORALE, CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, STRING & CHAMBER ENSEMBLE

Men's Concert Attire
Black suit or tuxedo with black bow tie
White dress shirt - clean and pressed
Black socks and black dress shoes (no sneakers)

Ladies Concert Attire
Plain, black, floor-length dress, skirt, or slacks (no jeans or yoga-type pants) 
Dressy black top 
Black or neutral hosiery and black dress shoes
No plunging necklines, rising slits, low-cut backs, or displays of midriff

Check-out Procedure

All students are expected to stay until the conclusion of the concert. Performers will meet parents in the Market St. Lobby. Students will not be allowed to exit through the Stage Door.
