General FAQ Questions

Important COVID-Safety and Preparedness Information

As of September 20, the City is requiring operators or hosts of large indoor events at City-owned facilities with more than 50 guests to require ALL ATTENDEES age 12 and older and ALL STAFF to show proof of full vaccination before entering the facility. Certain exemptions for medical, religious, and performers exist as described in the City’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document.

We’ve had several conversations with the City and other city owned concert venues on how this will impact future events. We are continuing to have open dialogues on how best to implement this mandate and provide a safe event for all. The house rules as they relate to this mandate are frequently updated here: https://sanjosetheaters.org/safety

UPDATED ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • PROOF OF VACCINATION REQUIRED per City of San Jose Order, effective September 20, 2021
    • Please keep reading for Vaccine and exemption information.
  • MASKS are required to be worn indoors per Santa Clara County Order, effective August 2, 2021.
    • See below for additional details, what to expect, and allowed exemptions.
EXEMPTIONS
The City allows the below patron exemptions:
  • Children under 12 years of age – Exempted children under 12 will not require proof of negative COVID-19 test.
  • Medical (see FAQ) – Medical exemptions must be in writing, include the person’s name, and be signed by a medical professional. In order to be admitted to an event with a medical exemption, a person must also have a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of the event.
  • Religious (see FAQ) – Religious exemptions must be in writing with the person’s name. In order to be admitted to an event with a religious exemption, a person must also have a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of the event.
  • Artist/Performer – In order to be exempted from requiring proof of vaccination, performers must meet BOTH of the following criteria:
    • 1) Are not employed by the business, governmental entity, or other organization hosting the event
    • 2) Do not regularly provide services at the facility. In order to be admitted to an event, a performer must also have a negative COVID‐19 test result within 72 hours of the event.
