The winners of the 2017 Conservatory Honors Scholarship Competition were all 12 finalist students!! What a great show. Top notch, every one. In an unprecedented move, one of the judges praised all of the students at the end, and thanked the parents for their unwavering support of the gifts that have been bestowed on their young artists.
The finals took place on Saturday, May 6, in the Conservatory Hall.
1st Place - Luis Lechuga-Espadas, clarinet (Grand Duo Concertant by Carl Maria von Weber) $5,000 tuition scholarship
2nd Place - Sarah Tuan, piano (Scherzo No 2 Op 31, by Chopin) $4,000 tuition scholarship
3rd Place - Joseph Vasconi, piano (Toccata in D Minor Opus 11 by Prokofiev) $3,000 tuition scholarship
4th Place - Zachary Shah, piano (Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Liszt) $2,000 tuition scholarship
