Conservatory Sophomore Music Major Christiana Schiller recently competed at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) under the Junior Vocal category and won two silver medals. She was part of Team USA, which was composed of 52 members. This invitation-only event was held on June 30 - July 8 in Long Beach, CA. WCOPA is considered as the only “Olympics” for talent (aspiring performing artists) in the world. This year's event featured participants from over 50 countries. The week-long competition also includes an intensive bootcamp, in which contestants receive training from industry professionals, and "go sees" where invited contestants meet with talent scouts, agents, managers, and producers.
In addition to WCOPA, Christiana also won 1st place in the Broadway/Musical Theatre category of the American Protégé International Vocal Competition 2017. This annual competition is designed for competitive singers (solo vocalists and vocal groups) of all ages, nationalities, and countries. As part of her prize, Christiana will be performing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in December this year for the Winners Circle.
At VCHS, Christiana participates in the Open Air Ensemble (marching band & color guard), the Performing Indoor Ensemble (PIE), the Wind Ensemble, and this year will be a member of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
