Students in Physical Science classes read an article about how astronauts train for space by repeating a task over and over to reduce human error. Then, they participated in a similar activity by following instructions to move a penny certain places on a paper. Students collected their times and accuracy on a data table and graphed their results, using Notability for annotation, to see first hand how practice reduces error! They then will answer some analysis questions and post their "paper" to learn@vcs.

Our eighth graders had a great two days away from campus to bond as they started their final year at Valley Christian Junior High. The event is best summed up by Mrs.Wescott, Valley Christian Junior High English 8 instructor and English Department Head:

"As I look at the photographs from Breakaway, I see students - excited and joyful - climbing trees, cheering for their teams, taking many strips of bacon, and talking with their friends. There were many activities that made Breakaway a memorable experience for the eighth graders. From the students’ perspective, however, one activity stood out - the Thursday night chapel led by Dave Tieche. “The games were very fun and very entertaining. On August 20, Ranger and Sparks greeted Valley Christian High School students during school lunchtime.

I can honestly say this was one of the most exciting first days of school I have ever experienced. Our junior high students arrived with a level of enthusiasm and eagerness that was beyond expectations. They truly were ready and geared up for a wonderful day! One mother wrote to me that her son had a GREAT day. One of the first comments from him was, “Mom the teachers are all so nice.” He expressed that Mr. Tuttle was hilarious and that it was cool to be pulled into Mrs. Ginther’s office to find out that his schedule had been changed. What a great day! I hope you and your family had a wonderful first day of school as well!

Students in Physical Science scan QR codes which give them a direction. For example, find an object 15 centimeters in length. The hunters then scavenge the classroom for an object they think is 15 centimeters, measure it, and find the difference between the object and 15 centimeters. Students record their answers on Notability on their iPad and will submit the assignment electronically to Moodle (Learn@VCS).
