The AMSE Special Needs Awareness Partnership (SNAP) Club held a Special Needs Awareness Week at VCHS. This week included promoting awareness about physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism, and Down syndrome.
While some kids avoid broccoli on the dinner plate, students at Valley Christian High School (VCHS) are attempting to grow them in space. Using the BAM-FX micronutrient delivery system aboard the International Space Station (ISS), this educational research experiment will attempt to hydrate, germinate, and grow broccoli seeds from dehydrated media and compare the plant growth with and without the BAM-FX Nutrient Solution.

On Tuesday, December 12, Valley Christian Schools International Space Station (ISS) Program received a commendation from the San Jose Mayor's Office. Valley Christian Schools President, Dr. Clifford Daugherty and the VP of the AMSE, Danny Kim, were accompanied by a group of ISS students, teachers, and program mentors who proudly represented VCS on the council chamber floor.
This year's Christmas at the California concert showcased a groundbreaking collaboration between the Arts, Academics, and Athletics at Valley Christian Schools. Troy Gunter, VP/Director of the Conservatory of Arts was accompanied on stage by Eric Scharrenberg, VP of Athletics and PE, and Danny Kim, VP of AMSE. Eight students and two mentors traveled to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to compete in the XPRIZE Competition. Shortly after their arrival on Saturday, November 18, they went out to sea to launch their AUVs in front of the judges. That day, everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong.
Math Club students placed 5th in the nation, 2nd in California, in the 2017 Team Scramble competition.
Congratulations! Our High School Purple Comet Math Team placed 1st in California and 96th percentile in the Nation! The Purple Comet! Math Meet is an on-line, international, team mathematics competition. This is our best finish in school history (26/30 correct). Only one of the six team members is graduating, so we will have another strong team next year!
Rik Mukherjee's team "A3R2MY," participated in the San Jose Tech Museum's Tech Challenge. Rik's team won FIRST PRIZE in the "Best Overall" category
On April 22nd, VCS Math League team placed 4th in the California State High School Championships.
Our SOAR students continue to reign supreme in the west! This year Ethan Hamamatsu is the first place Western Regional winner.
At the end of the 3 hour meet, Valley came away with 5 ribbons winners!
