High School Admissions

Thank you for your interest in Valley Christian High School. We are expecting a sizeable and talented group of young people to make up our incoming classes for the 2018-19 school year. Careful attention to the guidelines described here will help ensure a more stress-free and successful application process. We will be praying for you and your family as you consider the future education of your child and trust that you will seek God’s guidance as well.

  • Open House is scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2017, 1-4pm. Pre-register online to avoid the lines. If you cannot attend Open House, campus tours are available during the week and can be scheduled by contacting admissions.

  • Student Shadowing is an exciting opportunity to experience Valley Christian High School alongside one of our students. We make every effort to pair your student with a VCHS student who shares your student’s interest. Student Shadowing takes place by appointment only.

  • Personal Interviews are required prior to acceptance for all incoming students.

  • Placement Testing is required prior to acceptance for incoming 9th graders. Testing may be completed while still completing application.

  • Online applications are required for all new, incoming students. Our Priority Consideration Deadline is January 29, 2018. Please see below for more details about what will be required with the application.

$70 Application Fee (Non-Refundable) - The application remains incomplete until the Application Fee is received. Credit card payments can be made online. 

Immunization Record

Copy of Student’s Immunization Record - An application remains incomplete without the submission of the most recent immunization record. For students new to Santa Clara County, a current TB test and the Hepatitis B series are required. 

Achievement Test Results

Copy of Student’s most recent Achievement Test Results - Common achievement testing includes SAT 10, Iowa, Terra Nova etc. For applicants currently in public school, the testing scores should be submitted from the CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress), as well as the CST (California Standards Test) in Science. The most recent achievement test needs to be submitted, even if it is over one year old. 

Student Questionnaire, including Essay

Student Questionnaire, including Essay - This is filled out online, and needs to be completed by the student. Please ensure that all questions are answered. 

Report Cards, Transcripts

For students applying to 9th grade, copy of student’s Report Cards from 7th and 8th grade.
 For students applying to 10th-12th grade, copy of student’s High School Transcript.VCHS requires copies of the student’s report cards for the current school year and the previous year. These can be quarter by quarter grades, semester report cards, or a final transcript of the last two years, including the most recent report card of the students’ current year. For senior transfer applicants, a full high school transcript must be submitted. 

Placement Testing

Incoming 9th grade Admissions Placement Testing must be completed on one of the following dates: December 2, 2017; January 13, 2018; or January 27, 2018. An application for Priority Consideration is not complete without this testing. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to select a testing date and ensure that the student is signed up by phone or email. There is no charge for this testing beyond the $70 application fee. 

Educator’s Recommendation Form

Educator’s Recommendation Form (submit online) – Applicants may choose to submit more than one recommendation. However, at least one recommendation must be completed by an English, history, science, or religion teacher in the applicant’s current school year. 


Note: Since completing and submitting recommendations takes time from busy professionals (who often have other recommendations to write), students are encouraged to request the recommendations and deliver the accompanying information at least three weeks before the application deadline. You may want to follow up with each educator or church leader to make sure that the recommendation was completed. The application remains incomplete until the recommendations are received. 


Math Recommendation Form

Math Recommendation Form (submit online) – The Math Educator’s Recommendation must be completed by a math teacher in the applicant’s current school year. 


Note: Since completing and submitting recommendations takes time from busy professionals (who often have other recommendations to write), students are encouraged to request the recommendations and deliver the accompanying information at least three weeks before the application deadline. You may want to follow up with each educator or church leader to make sure that the recommendation was completed. The application remains incomplete until the recommendations are received. 


Clergy’s Recommendation Form

Clergy’s Recommendation Form or Parent/Guardian’s Written Statement (submit online) – The Clergy Recommendation, if available, is preferred over the Parent/Guardian Written Statement. This recommendation may be completed by a pastor, priest, current Sunday school teacher, or church leader who is involved in the applicant’s spiritual development. If a clergy recommendation is not available, families should submit the Parent/Guardian Written Statement.

Conservatory of the Arts Application (Optional

Conservatory of the Arts Application (Optional) - While any VCHS students may take music, theatre, dance, photography, or new media classes, students may apply into a special honors-level program through the Conservatory.
