The Valley Christian Open Air Ensemble (OAE) competed in the Western Band Association show at Gilroy High School on Saturday, October 13. This year, with 53 students, VCS is competing in the Class A division.
OAE took second place behind King's Academy, and also won the Class A caption awards for Best General Effect and Best Visual Effect.
The 2018 field show is: The Steps That Lead Our Way
It is the story of Rosa Park’s triumphant journey from rejection to acceptance.
The 2018 OAE is under the direction of new band director, Dr. Michael Brown, who is also the new Associate Director of the Conservatory of the Arts.
Congratulations to these hard-working musicians and color guard/dancers, including two junior high students, who have been working on the show since July. The campus premiere of the show was at Homecoming on October 19.
The next competition will be Saturday, October 20, at the Bands of America Northern California Regional Championship, to be held at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. Valley Christian will perform at 12:30pm.
