At the second competition of the season, Valley Christian's Open Air Ensemble earned a score of 66.6, and bested The King's Academy's score of 63.85. King's had beat VCS the week before by less than 2 points at the Western Band Competition in Gilroy. It was the first time in the history of Valley Christian that the marching band and color guard were named finalists at a Bands of America (BOA) competition.
The BOA Northern California Northern California Regional was a much larger competition than the Gilroy HS show, with bands from Northern California, Southern California and Oregon.
Next up for OAE is a trip to Long Beach to the Western Band Association's So Cal Super Show the weekend of Oct. 26-28.
