Junior Music Major Christiana Schiller was named to the 2018 California ACDA Coastal Region Honor Choir, and they performed on November 17, 2018 at San Jose State University. She also was named to the 2019 California ACDA All-State Honor Choir, and they are scheduled to perform on March 16, 2019 in Downtown San Jose.
In addition, Christiana, for the second year in a row, was selected by the International Selection Board to be part of the Honors Performance Series Honor Choir (HPS) at Carnegie Hall (below are some pictures from last year). She will perform once again at the main stage of Carnegie Hall, the Isaac Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, with the Honors Concert Choir. Last year, she also performed at the Sydney Opera House as part of the HPS Honor Choir. She will be going back to New York for a 5-day visit in February 2019. Acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in her application and audition recording. Christiana will join performers from 46 United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, several provinces of Canada, Australia, Bermuda, China, Hong Kong, Mexico, Poland, Qatar, and South Korea.
According to Morgan Smith, Program Director, “Being selected to the Honors Performance Series is something each Finalist should be extremely proud of accomplishing. We processed more than 18,000 nominations this year and have selected nearly 700 of the most talented student performers from around the world. Working with these conductors and performing at Carnegie Hall is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that these musicians never forget”. The HPS was created to showcase accomplished individual high school performers on an international level by allowing them to study under master conductors and perform in celebrated venues. The Honors Choral Performance will take place Sunday, February 10, and are open to the public. Tickets can be purchased through the Carnegie Hall box office (https://www.carnegiehall.org/calendar/2019/02/10/high-school-honors-performance-0830pm).
