Today we celebrated and acknowledged ten student-athletes who will continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.

On Saturday, April 12, during the 2014 ASCI Math Olympics, our Valley Christian Junior High students stood out! The top mathematicians from among Bay Area Christian schools met for an intensive face to face match-up. We sent eight students with the support of Mrs. Amy Hawkins. Sixth grader Kyle Lee took First Place in Reasoning and Fiona Tang earned Third Place in Computation. Bobby Daigle scored First in seventh grade Reasoning. Erik Mitchell earned Second Place and Daniel Chun Fourth Place in Computation. Sasha Jaffarove led us in eighth grade Computation. Grace Lee powered up to Fourth Place and Priscilla Lee towered at Second Place in the Reasoning - eighth grade category. Kudos to our math department which is preparing the top mathematicians of the Bay Area!

After incubating the idea for a while, Valley finally hatched a plan to raise a passel of real-life peeps!

This year's festival was bittersweet for the seniors, who took a quick, one-night trip to participate in the Reno Jazz Festival for the last time, then race back home to go to Senior Prom.

With the expert mentoring of Valley Christian High School's Mu Alpha Theta mentors, Mrs. Smith, Dr. Shim and Mrs. Lin, the math club has grown in number exponentially over the past few years. A large number of students from a variety of math levels challenge themselves to grow and explore the real challenge of logic, critical thinking and mathematical application.
