Medical Insurance While You Attend VCS

International students, welcome to Valley Christian Schools.

Health insurance is required by law for all international students. It is the responsibility of each international student to purchase his or her own health insurance coverage. The minimum requirement is at least $50,000 maximum coverage for an accident or sickness. You may already have a plan from your home country or with your host family that is acceptable.

Medical insurance must be purchased before school starts.  Students must bring proof of insurance to the International Student Office before the first day of school to show that they have the proper coverage. If students are coming with their own insurance, the insurance coverage must apply to them while they are in the United States.

You may choose any company for health insurance. However, to make it easier for our families, Valley Christian Schools has partnered with Serving Abroad and representative Tom Smart to offer you a way to get this coverage easily. Tom helps our students with coverage offerings and claims processing while they are registered with us. The minimum plan needed is the Short-Term Patriot Exchange Program ($50,000), which includes an Add-on Plan providing Limited High School Sports Coverage. There are also $250,000 and $500,000 plans available.

The Standard Short Term plan is designed to meet VCS' & Visa [AR1] travel requirements. This plan must be purchased for a minimum of 3 months before it can be renewed, and you must be enrolled in coverage for the entire time you are a registered student at Valley Christian Schools.
