The Valley Christian Elementary School finds its strength in community. We like to say, “The Quest Starts Here!” The K-12 scope and development of programs in Academic Achievement, Artistic Beauty, and Athletic Distinction provide VCES students with the opportunity to discover their God-given talents and abilities at a young age. As our students progress through junior high and high school, they continue to explore more advanced opportunities to develop these gifts. Many of our teachers and coaches spend time at both the Skyway and Leigh campuses, which creates an educational environment built upon high standards and continuity.
Dear Potential Parents,
Welcome to Valley Christian Elementary School! It is our distinct privilege to partner together with you in the education of your children. In Acts, Paul wrote, "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common" (Acts 2:42-44). The Valley Christian Elementary School community finds its strength in unity.
The Quest starts here, but it's only the beginning!
Highly qualified faculty and staff foster a caring learning environment that is patient, encouraging, and tailored to the unique needs of each and every student. Teachers challenge students at their individual levels of learning through differentiated instruction, project-based learning, and the most up-to-date and effective digital learning tools. Our core academic program includes Bible, reading, language, writing, math, science, and social studies, and is designed to meet and exceed California state standards in the various academic disciplines. An extensive offering of pullout classes and after-school programs, created to identify and nurture each student’s God-given potential, enhances the general curriculum.
Our curriculum is rich with opportunities for our future mathematicians, scientists, and engineers! In addition to engaging K-5th grade hands-on science curriculum and Math Olympiad, AMSE provides a variety of after-school offerings. Clubs such as Robotics, LEGO, Chess, Critical Thinking, and Schmahl Science allow students to pursue their particular areas of interest within AMSE and lay the foundation for success in these disciplines in junior high, high school, and beyond.
Artistic instruction is an integral part of the day-to-day school program through the Kidservatory, the elementary branch of the Conservatory of the Arts. Throughout the school day, experienced and engaging Conservatory faculty lead classes in music, art, theatre, and dance.
Additionally, our students have the wonderful opportunity to enjoy the arts after school through the Kidservatory program. Experienced high school Conservatory faculty members provide many exciting offerings. The Conservatory also offers private lessons in a variety of instruments and voice for further individualized instruction.
There are a variety of athletic opportunities for our students. Our PE classes provide students with the right start to sportsmanship and healthy lifestyle choices. Students participate in PE twice a week, and kindergarten students additionally attend motor lab to further develop their gross motor skills.
Little Warrior Nation is an exciting extracurricular opportunity for VCES students to learn the fundamentals of a wide variety of sports from some of best coaches and high school athletes in the state of California. For grades K-3rd VCHS and VCJH coaches and athletes travel to the elementary campus to share devotions, testimonies, and lessons on effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The 4th-6th grade variation is a series of sports-specific workouts designed for both boys and girls that takes place on the Skyway campus on Saturday mornings. Program highlights for both age groups include an “Inside Look” at the student’s high school team of choice, and being paired with a “big buddy” for the year. Through the Little Warrior Nation, VCES students learn firsthand what it means to be a spirited Valley Christian Warrior.
We take our responsibility to provide a warm and nurturing Christ-centered community for our students, parents, and faculty very seriously. Students enjoy cross-curricular biblical integration, take Bible as a core academic subject, and participate in chapel once a week. We strive to provide a welcoming and safe educational environment by training our students to be proactive Young Peacemakers. A variety of community service opportunities help VCES students discover first-hand the joy of living a life of service and love. The Pancake Breakfast, Family Fun Night, after-school programs, the Knight of Passage, and Family Camp are just a few of the many activities that bring our diverse community together. The intentional emphasis on faith integration and community building is evident throughout the VCES calendar.
|"We first chose VCES for its Christian values and high academic standards, but it didn't take long for us to find that VCES offered so much more. We continue to be impressed with the challenging class curriculum and outstanding enrichment programs available at the school. What makes VCES truly special, though, is the high caliber of talented teachers and administrators on staff. We find that everyone is highly professional, yet so down-to-earth and easy to talk to. The staff is always respectful, friendly and responsive to our needs — it's obvious that they are focused on providing a great experience for both students and parents." |
"We chose VCES for our children because of its exceptional academic program, extensive breadth of enrichment programs, and its knowledgeable teaching staff who foster a strong moral foundation for our children. Our children are growing academically, and have also grown spiritually in God, developing a strong sense of self and values." (VC parent)
An exceptional group of educators engages our VCES students in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment that fosters a love of learning from a young age. More than 50% of our teachers hold master’s degrees, and all of our educators practice cutting edge, research-proven teaching methods. As a community, we believe that the best educators are lifelong learners, and many of our teachers are currently working toward postgraduate degrees as well.
VCES teachers recognize the privilege they have in living their faith openly in front of their students and facilitating spiritual growth by integrating a biblical perspective into every subject they teach. They also serve as Prayer Warriors, praying personally for a specific group of students by name throughout the year. VCES students thrive in a Christ-centered learning environment where they are able to learn from the personal examples and life stories of their caring, professional, and dedicated teachers.
