We are so very proud of Anugraha Pillai, VCJH seventh grader, and an excellent figure skater. Anu qualified for the National Solo Dance Series competition which was held in Provo, Utah, on September 4-7, 2019. The NSDS is conducted by US Figure Skating which is the National Governing Body for figure skating in the United States, as recognized by the US Olympic Committee and International Skating Union.
Only the top six skaters from each of the three national regions (Pacific, Midwest, and East) are eligible to compete in the event. Anu has been the defending champion from the Pacific region and skated in three very difficult categories: the solo patterns, solo combined, and shadow dances. What an excellent job she did! Anu placed seventh in solo combined, fourth in solo pattern, and earned the gold medal in shadow dances!
Many, many long hours of both on-ice and off-ice practices, combined with the diligent heart of a champion, the dedication and drive of a young woman who loves the ice, and the gift of a skater have led Anugraha to yet another tremendous showing of her own personal Quest for Excellence. Anu is a terrific athlete, an excellent student, and an outstanding young woman!
