If your child plans to buy lunch at school, all on-campus food purchases are digital! Students will be assigned a Valley Christian Lunch ID number to use when purchasing from VCS Food Services. These personal lunch ID numbers will be on their schedule, which they will be receiving at the VCS Orientation events. Click Here (must login to the parent portal to access) for instructions on how to set up a new lunch account after the event when you have your child's Lunch ID!

***Returning student lunch accounts from last school year will have the same lunch ID numbers.

The 5-Digit Lunch ID will be embedded in the student body ID card and may alternatively be keyed in as a PIN number. 

Students will receive their ID cards when they take their school pictures. Dates are listed on the A/B school calendar and pictures will be taken during your student's scheduled Bible Class. If funds are added, your child's lunch account will be ready to go on the first day of school!

Please note that cash is not accepted at VCS Food Services.

Note: Funds need to be added to the lunch account before 9pm on the day prior to be accessible (i.e., add funds by 9:00pm on Monday night for use on Tuesday the first day of school).

School photos will be taken during the school day on August 15 and 16 (Thursday/Friday). This photo will be used on their school identification card that will be used to enter VCS events. It will also be the photo used in the yearbook for freshman-juniors. The Bible department will be allocating some of their class time on the first Thursday and Friday of the school year to ensure every student has the opportunity to take their yearbook pictures. Photo opportunities will also be available during breaks and lunch periods. However, please note that photos will not be taken during Warrior Time on Thursday, as all students will be attending a high school assembly on the football field.

Parents, please be sure that your student is within our Dress Code during picture day (no hats or tank top straps allowed in photos and hair must be within dress code).

VCHS clubs are student-led and have a lower time commitment than our programs. This network is a great way to make friends and have fun with peers that have like-minded interests.

VCHS will run their clubs during Warrior Time on Mondays and Thursdays. Students are encouraged to try any club they desire; no sign-ups are necessary. Please explore and visit clubs for the first few weeks of school. New students are invited to participate in the New Student Club Fair at the New Student Sunrise event on Monday, August 12, from noon to 1:00pm. Additionally, there will be club fairs on Monday, August 19, and Thursday, August 22. These fairs will help students understand which clubs meet on which days. With over 90 offerings, students have a wide variety of clubs to choose from.

Students will receive more information during one of the two opening rallies during the first week of school.

Club application season is closed but will open in early December and then again in March. In December, an audit is conducted to review the success of our current clubs, those clubs that are not meeting the club standards will be replaced by a new club at that time. All applications are welcome, but limited spaces are provided. Another audit and review are conducted in April; at that time, new club applications and those still on the waiting list are accepted. Students are expected to bring their iPad, lined paper, graph paper, pens, and pencils for classes. VCHS does not provide a class supply list, since the variety of course offerings is so large. Teachers will let students know what they need in their syllabi and give ample time to purchase any specific items. To review general school supplies, view the VCHS Student Checklist.

In general, freshmen do not have summer assignments to complete. Advanced classes do have summer assignments, so freshmen in an advanced language or math class and transfer students may have assignments to complete during the summer to prepare for the school year. The Back to School Bash on Monday, August 12 as well as our first four days of school are great ways to connect with friends. We have been very purposeful in our planning to allow students the opportunity to connect with their peers outside the classroom setting.

Another opportunity for both students and incoming new families to build community will take place during our Freshman Family Night on Monday, July 29, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Bethel Church (1201 S Winchester Blvd, San Jose, CA 95128). Students will work together to get a head start on their community service hours, while parents and guardians will engage in community-building activities so they can get to know the staff and the Valley Christian community.

Students can find their classes and ask for help at our New Student Sunrise (orientation) and at our Back to School Bash the day before school begins. Students and staff will be available for help and support for all students. Tours are scheduled during our Back to School Bash leaving from the Small Gym between 1:00pm and 1:30pm, providing opportunities for students to attend the club fair just prior to the tours.

Directions will be sent the first week of August instructing families how to access the course list.

Students will be able to access their schedules in Powerschool the evening of Friday, August 2.

During the New Student Sunrise (orientation) event, if students need help accessing their schedules, IT support will be available during the event. Our High School office staff can print schedules during the Orientation and Back to School Bash events.
